Adventure Curriculum

Forest School

We are thrilled to have staff trained to deliver 'Forest School' to our pupils as we know the nurturing experiences the outdoors can offer. Mrs Flaherty and Mrs Stojsavljevic are passionate about ensuring all children have a full program of activities.  We have an introduction to Forest School in Year 1 but the main provision is delivered to Years 3 & 5.

In addition to our curriculum provision, children can join an after school club to enjoy more activities including gardening and maintaining the school plants.  Our dream is to grow fruit and vegetables to give to Miss Paulina to cook so we can eat our own produce at lunchtimes!

Nights Away Curriculum Map

All Saints is also developing it's adventure and nights away curriculum. We are aware that many of our children might not have spent time away from their families.  To help grow personal resilience and independence we have developed a series of experiences that help children (and parents) prepare for the extended residential in Year 6.

In Years 1 & 2 children enjoy an After Dark party.  In November, when the clocks have changed, we invite children to come to school and experience fun activities at night.  They have great fun exploring school in the dark.  They then sing rowdy songs around the campfire and the evening ends with a delicious snack and hot chocolate.

In Years 3&4 children enjoy a sleepover at the school. This is planned for the summer term and children enjoy a nocturnal walk seeking out the local wildlife.  If they are quiet and the weather permits, watching bats is a great treat!

In Year 5 children catch the train to Tile Hill and hike over fields to reach Coventry Scout Camp at Rough Close.  Here they complete lots of outdoor challenges and sleep over before making the return journey the next day. It is an action packed twenty four hours!

Finally, in Year 6, children look forward to the 4 night residential at Dol-y-Moch in Wales.  This outdoor pursuits centre introduces a variety of adventurous activities including, hiking, kayaking, orienteering in the beautiful setting of the Snowdonia National Park.
